Advocacy groups
Youth, adult education, sport, senior citizens, business and social affairs – these are all areas which are promoted publicly.
The advocacy groups serve as expert consultants to the ministers. They carry out studies and draft reports to support the Government in its work and decisions.
- The Youth Support Council promotes and coordinates initiatives to support young people and supervises the implementation of decisions.
- The Council for National and Adult Education ensures that the interests of people from all walks of life are represented in adult education.
- The Council for German-speaking Youth (RdJ) is an amalgamation of youth centres, youth advisory councils, youth parties, youth organisations and youth services. It represents the interests of young people as active members of society who can and want to be involved.
- The Sports Council fosters contact and exchange of experiences not only between the individual sports, but also between national, regional and international organisations.
- The Economic and Social Council (WSR) examines the development of training and employment and proposes improvements in the DG’s labour market and economic and social policy.
- The Sports Commission advises the competent Community minister, organises the training of sports leaders and trainers and monitors quality standards in sports centres.
- The Council for Senior Citizens represents the interests of older people in the areas of mobility and participation within society, etc.
- The Council for Development Cooperation is responsible for creating public awareness on issues surrounding development aid.
- The Royal Monument and Landscape Conservation Commission advises and decides on whether to put a preservation order on buildings or landscapes.
