Public Institutions and Facilities
The DG supervises six para-communitary institutions. These are services in the public interest, with their own board of direction, managing their own budget.
- The Employment Office of the German-speaking Community (ADG) supports citizens and companies in the fields of employment and vocational training.
- Belgian Radio (Belgischer Rundfunk, BRF) is the public service radio and television broadcaster of the DG, whose task is to keep citizens up to date on developments both within the Community and the world at large, as well as having a role in promoting an understanding of the DG outside its borders.
- The office for disabled persons (DPB) is a consultative institution for all citizens' questions and issues concerning disablement or reduced ability. Its tasks include the practical and social accompaniment of the disabled, therapy possibilities, vocational reinsertion and financial assistance.
- The Institute of Further Education for Skilled Professions and Crafts (IAWM) coordinates the training and apprenticeship for skilled professions and crafts in the DG. The IAWM is responsible for the content and organization of courses as well as for monitoring and accompanying apprentices during their training.
- The Tourist Information Office (VAO) of East Belgium promotes tourism in the region. The VAO offers visitors valuable information on places to visit and things to do in East Belgium, as well as coordinating information on hotels and other accommodation. It also consults with and supports local facilities in matters of tourism.
- The Association for Economic Advancement in East Belgium (WFG) is the central coordinator for institutions, District Authorities, entrepreneurs and companies. The goal of the WFG is the promotion and development of the DG as an ideal and competitive site location for industry, trade, professions and services.
